A Letter to the She Should Run Community

| Erin Loos Cutraro

Dear She Should Run community,

Many of you have been with us, believing in the power of women’s leadership, for over a decade.

You’ve taken your first steps, shared resources, encouraged others to run, maybe even considered it yourself.

You know that when more women lead, our democracy is stronger.

And here’s some good news: the She Should Run community is already showing up in powerful ways this year.

Already in 2025, nearly 30,000 women took a first step with our starting-line resources to consider elected office. That’s almost double the activity at this time last year.

That kind of scale brings responsibility. And opportunity.

But mission and momentum alone are not enough right now.

We’re facing a moment that threatens the very conditions under which women can lead.

Our democracy is being tested, not in some distant, abstract way, but right here in our neighborhoods and towns.

This is not business as usual.

That’s why we launched She Will Fight, a new project of She Should Run that is a network for women who want to step up their local civic engagement. The fractures in our democracy started in our communities, and that’s how they’ll heal.

This isn’t a departure from She Should Run. It’s a deepening. Because civic engagement is the path to elected office, our resources have always been rooted in helping women take action in their communities. This moment just demands more of it.

Hope isn’t naïve. It’s a powerful force, especially when it’s shared. When we connect with others who care, we remember what’s possible and keep each other going.

Right now, She Will Fight is in beta. We’re building this network with the women who are ready to test, try, and shape what comes next. Join us here.

If that’s you, we’d love for you to be part of it. If you’re already doing the work in your community, your voice and support are essential. We also hope you’ll share this with others you want to bring along.

And if you’re thinking about running someday or want to see more women in office, now is the time to plug in.

Will you choose hope with us?

With urgency, hope, and gratitude,
Erin
