A Fundraising Ask. And a Fight Worth Joining
A Fundraising Ask. And a Fight Worth Joining
We don’t plan to do this work until the end of time. But we sure as hell can’t stop now.
We’re in a storm.
If you’re reading this, you probably already know that She Should Run has spent more than a decade helping hundreds of thousands of women take their first steps toward elected leadership. We’ve shown up in moments of possibility, in moments when the house felt like it was on fire, and in those rare and electric moments when it seemed like almost every woman in America was ready to run. You know we are committed, heart and soul, to building a democracy that reflects us all.
But this moment in our country is unlike any we’ve seen before.
Women are burned out. Overwhelmed. Unsure where they can make a difference. Afraid of the backlash, and real violence, that might come with putting themselves out there. But it’s not because they don’t care. Our research shows they’re unsure which actions will actually make a difference.
That’s why we launched She Will Fight, our boldest project yet. It meets women where they are and helps them learn together how to take meaningful civic action in their own communities. Today. Not just before midterms. Today, when the news is nonstop and the needs feel endless. And yes, it’s working.
Still, the larger reality is hard to ignore: Women are half the population and receive less than 2% of all charitable giving. How??
We’ve been doing this work long enough to know the pattern. And lately, the pattern is this: the moment gender equity became politically inconvenient, too many funders walked away. Cuts to DEI and women-focused programs have hit our sector hard. And we’re still here. Still fighting. Still not backing down.
Even with a proven track record and thousands of women newly engaged this year, She Should Run is up against shrinking resources and rising stakes.
We’ve made heartbreaking choices. We’ve cut costs in every way we can. We’ve stayed nimble. And we’ve kept our fists up.
Right now, we’re pushing toward a critical funding goal by July 4. Not because July 4th is secretly a giving holiday (it’s not). But because July officially marks the second half of the year, and we need to know what we can count on.
Hitting that number means we can get back to doing what we do best: serving women.
We’ll keep fundraising through the end of the year, of course. But if you’ve been thinking about giving, or giving more, now is the moment. Every dollar pledged before July 4 gives us more clarity, more momentum, and more room to fight like hell for what matters.
This isn’t just a fundraising ask. It’s a call to invest in women’s potential. Before a woman ever runs for office. Before she realizes, if not her, then who? Before she knows she belongs.
We’re about helping women step forward in a way they wouldn’t have otherwise.
The mom who’s never been to a town hall but shows up. The grandmother, tired of the noise and craving real tools to take action . The young woman who once said, “Not me,” is finally saying, “Maybe I could run.”
This work is not optional.
If you’ve been with us, we need you to stay with us. If you’re new to this work, there’s a place for you here. And if you’re asking what comes next, we believe it starts with this:
Bet on women.
Fund their leadership.
Stay nimble.
And refuse to back down.
