Miriam Friedman
Program Intern
Miriam is enthusiastic to be a part of the She Should Run team as a Program Intern! A first-year at the University of Chicago, Miriam integrates her love for kitschy Greek tragedy and public policy as a double-major in Classical Studies and Political Science. She is looking forward to attacking politics from the side of community engagement while working with She Should Run.
Prior to attending UChicago, Miriam discovered her interest in the non-profit sector through her work with Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, a youth orchestra organization that provides free lessons to underprivileged students in the Chicago Area. She experienced both the managerial and applied sides of non-profit, which allowed her to recognize the versatility of organizations such as She Should Run. Miriam hopes to bring her community-oriented experience to this internship, helping women acknowledge their potential impacts in the political sphere.
At the university, Miriam is a part of several social-justice related RSOs, as a Voting Ambassador for UChiVotes, a non-partisan voting initiative, as well as a Staff Writer for the Undergraduate Law Magazine. She is also the Vice President of Southside Scribblers, a student-run organization that teaches creative writing to Chicago elementary students. Miriam is passionate about building sustainable curriculums, an interest she is excited to bring to the She Should Run mission of equitable representation in office.
In her free time, Miriam can be found playing violin in the University Symphony Orchestra, singing classical opera, and scoping out the best honey oat lattes on campus.
