She Should Run is currently seeking applications for our 2018 Fall Fellowship program.

She Should Run’s Mission

Founded in 2011, She Should Run is a non-partisan 501(c)3 that provides an approachable starting place and network for women leaders considering a future run for office and for those who support them. Our mission is to expand the talent pool of women running for office in the United States by providing community, resources, and growth opportunities for aspiring political leaders. We believe that women of all political leanings, ethnicities, and backgrounds should have an equal opportunity to lead in elected office and that our democracy will benefit from the varied perspectives and experiences that women bring to leadership.

Fellowship Description

The She Should Run Fellowship Program is a part-time, 12-week commitment. Our Office Fellows generally work remotely, 20 hours a week in Washington, D.C., providing administrative support to the CEO, Chief of Staff, and She Should Run staff. Office Fellows will learn the intricacies of non-profit management, communications and programming, and member and donor relations. We are seeking two fellows to fulfill the roles of Programs & Events Fellow and Fundraising & Impact Fellow.

Programs & Events Fellow

The Programs & Events Fellow will work closely with the Programs team, as well as the rest of the She Should Run staff, on ensuring the successful implementation of our upcoming programs as well as our annual event, National Conversation. The Programs & Events Fellow will also work on maintaining and creating updates to our various resources and tools like Pinpoint and the Incubator.

Work, duties, and responsibilities may include the following:

  • Assist in She Should Run’s ongoing campaign, #250KBY2030, to have 250,000 women run for public office by 2030;
  • Provide support to our flagship program, the Incubator, by tracking members participation, tracking their candidacies, etc;
  • Assist the She Should Run team in organizing logistics for our annual event, National Conversation;
  • Provide support to our upcoming programs such as Virtual and Regional Cohorts by assisting with the necessary implementation and follow-up details;
  • Provide organizational support as requested or necessary.

Fundraising & Impact Fellow

The Fundraising & Impact Fellow will work closely with our Donor Relations & Partnerships Manager as well as our Founder & CEO to expand and ignite engagement in She Should Run’s donor communities. The Fundraising & Impact Fellowship will also learn key aspects of long-term financial sustainability, impactful expansion/storytelling, and relationship building for She Should Run.

Work, duties, and responsibilities may include the following:

  • Assist in identifying and researching potential donors, including corporate and individual;
  • Assist in creating materials needed for donor solicitation, including letters, electronic presentations, and informational packets;
  • Research and identify new potential avenues for organizational funding;
  • Provide data entry assistance and maintenance of donor database
  • Provide organizational support as requested or necessary.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • Candidates must be either a current college student, enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program, having completed at least two years of college, a recent college graduate, or graduate student;
  • An expressed and demonstrated interest in promoting gender equity in government and a commitment to She Should Run’s nonpartisan mission;
  • An interest in either Programs & Events or Fundraising & Impact;
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines efficiently;
  • Self-starter attitude;
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Google Docs, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Prior internship experience not necessary but preferred.
