Provincetown Theater Festival Opens
The Women’s International Theater Festival in Provincetown will open its twelfth season on Friday, October 13, with a production of "A Woman’s Heart," a play in poetry by Judith Partelow.
The festival is held in conjunction with Women's Week Provincetown, which has put the spotlight on creative women through theatrical, musical, and other cultural events in annual celebrations for more than 30 years. Produced by Provincetown Dramatic Arts, the festival presents new works by local playwrights. All performances will be at the Davis Space at WOMR, 494 Commercial Street in Provincetown. Tickets are $20 and available at the door.
On Saturday, October 14, at 8 PM, Provincetown Dramatics Arts will present a benefit reading of "An American Daughter," Wendy Wasserstein’s prescient play about how partisan politics, the press, and personal relationships impact the nomination of a woman seeking a top governmental position. The benefit is for She Should Run (www.sheshouldrun.org), a non-partisan organization with the mission to expand the talent pool of female elected officials.
