We Need More Pro-Choice Women in Office.

We all know women who are natural leaders. The lawyer who is a tireless community activist. The teacher with great ideas on how to reform education policies. The local business owner who volunteers in her spare time. The qualities that make successful teachers, lawyers, businesswomen, and mothers are the same ones that make successful public leaders.

But right now women hold less than a quarter of all elected offices in the United States - that places us 68th in the world for representation of women in government. Sign the petition and tell the Democratic and Republican parties that it's time to recruit and support more pro-choice women running for office.

Women currently hold less than a quarter of all elected offices in the United States. That places us 68th in the world for representation of women in government. In United States history, we have elected 11,025 Representatives in the House, but only 207 of them have been women – less than 2 percent.

Our government has far too few women at a time when we need them more than ever. Right now, women's reproductive freedoms are being threatened. Millions of Americans are living without health insurance. And our education system is leaving too many children behind.

On these issues and many more, women can offer a fresh perspective to move our country forward. But currently less than a quarter of all elected offices in the United States are held by women. We need to dramatically improve women's political participation in order to achieve real progress in our country.

That's why I'm joining the Women's Campaign Forum in asking our political leadership from both the Democratic and Republican Parties to recruit and support more pro-choice women running for office.
