She Should Run is a nonpartisan 501(c)3 that provides an approachable starting place and network for women considering a future run for office and for those who support them. We believe that women of all political leanings, ethnicities, and backgrounds should have an equal opportunity to lead in elected office. Our mission is to expand the talent pool of women running for office in the United States by providing community, resources, and growth opportunities for aspiring political leaders.

About the Role

She Should Run is seeking a talented, results-driven Marketing & Communications Manager to maximize our reach and lead our external communications strategy. The Marketing & Communications Manager will manage the overall She Should Run brand and reputation while working in close alignment with our Programs and Development teams. You’ll be responsible for expertly telling She Should Run’s story, growing our digital presence, and reinforcing the organization as a thought-leader on women’s leadership in the political space. You will use visual media and written content to drive support from our donors, corporate partners, community leaders, program participants, and other potential friends to advance the She Should Run mission toward getting 250,000 women running for office by 2030.

Duties and Responsibilities

Social Media & Website

  • Leverage social media to grow digital presence and become a part of the ongoing political conversation
  • Create and curate a variety of written and graphic social media content for social media SSR platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Ensure website content is relevant and consistently up-to-date
  • Write website copy, curate on-brand photo library, and create graphics for the website as needed

External Communications & Program Content

  • Identify opportunities to uplift the stories of the women in the She Should Run Incubator program
  • Collaborate with Programs team to keep Incubator portal content, leadership development content, and other program content fresh and relevant
  • Lead the content management process to include developing annual communications plan and content calendar
  • Create email templates and write email copy for monthly e-newsletter and other email marketing campaigns
  • Create funder and speaker presentations to ensure they are consistently brand appropriate with core messaging and impact storytelling

Media Relations

  • Assess and manage speaking engagements, interview, and other media requests
  • Review partner press releases
  • Develop pitch materials and track any pitch response rates

Metrics, Management & Reporting

  • Define and track social media (e.g. Sprout), digital marketing (e.g. Google ads), website analytics, and other strategic communications metrics
  • Facilitate monthly meetings for She Should Run staff to discuss marketing and communications priorities, learnings, and progress-to-date
  • Manage relationships with content writers and communications partners
  • Report out on the Communications & PR section of quarterly Board Report
  • Create She Should Run’s Annual Report to share our impact metrics and organizational successes with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (marketing, organizational communication, journalism or related field preferred)
  • 3 - 5 years prior relevant professional experience, nonprofit experience preferred
  • Proven experience with metrics tracking and tools (e.g. Sprout, Google Analytics)
  • Excellent storytelling, writing, and visual content creation skills
  • Experience developing and executing on strategic communications plans
  • Experience creating organizational messaging materials for donors and potential funders and friends
  • Excellent interpersonal and influence management skills
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate flexibility in thinking and responding to challenging situations
  • Proficient use of Canva (design) SalesForce (CRM), and MailChimp (marketing)
