Founded in 2011, She Should Run is a non-partisan 501(c)3 that provides an approachable starting place and network for women leaders considering a future run for office and for those who support them. Our mission is to expand the talent pool of women running for office in the United States by providing community, resources, and growth opportunities for aspiring political leaders.  We believe that women of all political leanings, ethnicities, and backgrounds should have an equal opportunity to lead in elected office and that our democracy will benefit from the varied perspectives and experiences that women bring to leadership.

Fellowship Description

The She Should Run Fellowship Program is a paid part-time, 12-week commitment. Our Office Fellows generally work remotely, 20 hours a week in Washington, D.C., providing administrative support to the CEO, Executive Director, and She Should Run staff. Office Fellows will learn the intricacies of non-profit management, media relations, and member and donor relations. Work, duties, and responsibilities may include the following:

  • Assist in She Should Run’s ongoing campaign, #250KBY2030, to have 250,000 women run for public office by 2030;
  • Provide support to our flagship program, the Incubator, by tracking members participation and other related items;
  • Provide support for our new online resource, Pinpoint, by assisting in accuracy and improvement of submitted resources;
  • Assist in drafting media statements and tracking social media metrics;
  • Provide organizational support as requested or necessary.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • Candidates must be either a current college student, enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program, having completed at least one year of college, a recent college graduate, or graduate student;
  • Ability to be located in Washington, D.C. for the duration of the fellowship;
  • An expressed interest in promoting gender equity in government and a commitment to She Should Run’s nonpartisan mission;
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines efficiently;
  • Self-starter attitude;
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Google Docs, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
