(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Georgia Berner, the Chair of the Boards of Directors for Women’s Campaign Fund and She Should Run, announced that Betsy Mullins has been named President and CEO of both organizations.
“After an exhaustive search, the board is delighted to announce Betsy Mullins as new President and CEO for Women’s Campaign Fund and She Should Run,” said Berner. “At this critical moment in our nation’s history, we need leaders in office who represent all Americans and are willing to stand up for the critical issues facing our country,” said Berner. “The Women’s Campaign Fund is committed to dramatically increasing the number of women in office. We are delighted to have a new leader who shares our passion for identifying and supporting women candidates at every level of political participation. With her extensive experience in politics, public affairs, and fundraising, Betsy is uniquely positioned to build on WCF’s 40 years as the nation’s first national, nonpartisan organization to support women candidates. She is absolutely the right woman to lead these two organizations.”
Most recently, Mullins was the Founder/Principal of P3 Public Affairs. Before that she served as the Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs for TechNet, a national policy and political network of the nation’s leading technology CEOs. Mullins worked for Gov. Bill Richardson as the Deputy Director of the Democratic Governors’ Association and the Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Energy. On the Hill, she worked for Rep. Vic Fazio at the House Democratic Caucus and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee; and for Sen. Jack Reed. Mullins also worked for Vice President Al Gore and on various campaigns. Mullins has also worked as a media consultant and helped launch a national non-profit dedicated to voter participation.
Mullins praised WCF’s culture of risk-taking and innovation, as well as She Should Run’s research-based approach to increasing the number of women candidates. “I am thrilled to join Women’s Campaign Fund and She Should Run at such a pivotal point in its history,” said Mullins. “In its 40 years, WCF has never been willing to settle for the status quo. From its Game Changers initiative to its bold vision for a more inclusive government, WCF has a proud legacy of bipartisan innovation. I look forward to expanding on that legacy and applying 21st century tools to building a government that harnesses the full potential of our nation’s diverse population.”
“We also understand that we cannot do this alone,” Mullins continued. “WCF and She Should Run have, and will continue to work with like-minded organizations and individuals across the political spectrum who understand the importance of supporting full participation and representation at every level of government. I look forward to working with these incredible leaders in the days to come.”
Betsy Mullins will begin as the President and CEO for Women’s Campaign Fund, WCF PAC, and She Should Run immediately. Mullins will work closely with the Erin Loos Cutraro, the newly-appointed Executive Director of She Should Run, WCF’s nonpartisan sister 501(c)3 organization. Mullins has a master’s degree in international political economy from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in politics from Mount Holyoke College.
