Barbie is running for president on an all-female ticket, Mattel announced Wednesday.

The world's largest toymaker started the campaign with She Should Run, a nonpartisan organization designed to encourage girls to seek elected office, as part of a joint effort to "to inspire girls to become leaders." Though Barbie has announced her candidacy before, Mattel said this is the first time she has been joined by a female running mate.

"With just 39 percent of girls saying that they want to be a leader, President and Vice President Barbie will serve as an inspiration for girls to pursue their dreams and imagine what they can become,'' the company said.

Part of the Barbie career line, the dolls come in packs of two in an assortment of skin tones, hair colors and face shapes for $24.99.

Why do opening new Barbie dolls still make me smile at 62? And these are special! #imwithher

Sen. Claire McCaskill, D- Mo., who has endorsed former colleague Hillary Clinton for president, appears to have already received some of the dolls.
